Who publishes this guide?

The Drive Ledger editorial team, a small independent team that writes and maintains the pages. Drive Ledger is not affiliated with the WinDirStat team, receives nothing from them, and does not distribute WinDirStat itself: every download link goes to the official windirstat/windirstat GitHub release, Microsoft's winget catalogue or the Microsoft Store listing the WinDirStat README names.

How are the facts checked?

Defaults, menu labels and shortcuts come from the WinDirStat source code at a specific release tag, not from memory or other websites. For the current pages that is release/v2.9.0, read on September 27, 2026: setting defaults from Options.h, the installer's options from the MSI definition, keyboard shortcuts from windirstat.rc and every visible label from lang_en.txt. Version-specific claims link to their entry in the official changelog. File names, sizes and SHA-256 hashes come from the GitHub release data, and winget details from Microsoft's public manifests. Each page lists its sources under its table, and the editorial policy describes the process.

The product screenshots are the official ones from windirstat.net and the WinDirStat GitHub pages; each caption says where it comes from and how it relates to the release the pages were checked against.

How do pages stay current?

WinDirStat ships new versions regularly. Every day, the site compares the latest GitHub release with the version the pages were checked against. When a new release leaves the cited source files unchanged, the checked version moves forward automatically. When one of those files changed, the stamp on every page names both versions, and the pages are reviewed against the new source when WinDirStat ships the release, before the stamp is cleared.

How is the site funded?

It carries no advertising, sponsored content or affiliate links at present. If that changes, the advertising disclosure will say so first, and advertising will never change which download sources or commands the guides recommend.
